SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The fifth annual “Golf FORE Education Celebrity Classic” brought some Heisman Trophy winners to Sioux City Monday.
The event by the Sioux City Public Schools Foundation brings in some big names for a day of golf and raising money for students learning the trades.
“They have some fantastic accomplishments they have with their career, work centers, and building the houses,” Nebraska’s first Heisman Trophy Winner Johnny “The Jet” Rodgers said. “And they actually are selling them, getting land, you get a lot of education, as far as not just building, but the land is concerned, it’s really a complete program.”
KTIV was among the first to learn that the event was a success before it even began.

“It was an anonymous donation that happened, it was a large one to the foundation, we’re all very happy about that,” 2001 Heisman Trophy Winner Eric Crouch said. “And it will be in the name of myself and Johnny Rodgers. So we’re very happy about that, very thankful to the donor. It’s going to affect a lot of lives.”
The $100,000 donation will help the Foundation with its mission to support the arts, culture, career, and technical education.
