Student Need

Sioux City Public Schools Foundation provides life-changing – even life-saving – support for low income families in Sioux City through programs and services focused on student need in education.

Closing the education gap

Worrying about where you will be sleeping at night or if you will have food for your next meal are adult problems that should not be on students’ minds. Unfortunately, every day, there are hundreds of students in the Sioux City Community School District that are impacted by these grown-up issues.

A focus on student need

Sioux City Public Schools Foundation invests thousands of dollars every year, leveling the educational field for students. The Foundation supports students from low-income homes to ensure every student has equal access to programs, experiences, and classroom supplies. Its focus on student need addresses literacy gaps in the District where one in five students is learning English as a second language. Student need funds also serve as a springboard for talented and gifted students, providing opportunities for excellence above and beyond the classroom experience.

By supporting the Foundation, you will ensure:

  • Accessible playground equipment is available for all elementary students
  • Graduating seniors who cannot afford a cap and gown are prepared for graduation
  • Backpacks and school supplies are available to help students start the school year successfully
  • Warm coats are ready for students who do not have clothing for the winter months

Make a life-changing impact on Sioux City students. Give a gift to ensure every student can focus on their education.

Approximately seven out of 10 students in the Sioux City Community School District qualify for free or reduced meals.
